From an autobiography written by Dennis McCarthy MBE - his father was Owen McCarthy, son of Denis James Mcarthy who was the son of Mary Anne Cooper.
In the autobiography he states:
" Henry Carey is his GGGGGGrandfather and Edmund Kean his GGGreat uncle.
He goes on to say Mary Anne Carey had 2 sons one Edmund Kean,the other was Henry Darnley.
He had a daughter, Helen who was an actress.she married JW Cooper an actor producer.
Their daughter Mary Anne Cooper married WD Mccarthy who was a soldier actor involved in the relief of Lucknow.
They had 3 children, Dennis, J McCarthy, Albert and Herbert.who took the surname Darnley because that was quite a famous stage name at the time "
