Edmund was the youngest of the 51 "Parkhurst Boys" who travelled to Australia on the 'Orient'. They left the Isle of Wight on 23 Nov 1847 and arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on 20 Mar 1848.
A note states that Edmund Byrne was also known as "Byrnes".
The boys were listed in Paul Buddee's book, 'Fate of the Artful Dodger' and in Andrew Gill's later work, 'Forced Labour for the West'.
